Shoulder Ultrasound

TCFMI’s Shoulder Ultrasound Examination in Downtown Toronto

Shoulder injuries are very common in all age groups. Injuries could either be traumatic or atraumatic. Tears of the rotator cuff and biceps tendons are a common cause of acute or chronic pain. Patients with tears of the rotator cuff tendon, typically present with varying degrees of pain from mild to severe (typically worse at night in bed), limited range of motion of the shoulder, and weakness.

At the Toronto Centre for Medical Imaging (TCFMI), we have been doing shoulder and other musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound examinations for more than 15 years. All ultrasound technologists at TCFMI have been trained by the quality advisor and Radiologist, Dr. Al Ismail who has performed and interpreted thousands of MSK Ultrasound examinations in his career. Shoulder Ultrasound in experienced hands can detect rotator cuff tendon tears with almost the same degree of accuracy as MRI. Ultrasound is fast, provides a dynamic assessment of the soft tissues around the shoulder and cost effective.
