Knee Ultrasound at the Toronto Centre for Medical Imaging
Knee pain is very common in adults. Pain could be from repetitive injury (such as arthritis or tendonitis), masses (such as Baker’s cyst in the back of the knee), tendon or muscle tears from sports injuries, ligament tears usually from severe fall such as from skiing, skating, soccer or chronic pain from arthritis.
Swelling of the knee from fluid accumulation could be from trauma, infection, arthritis, and meniscal tears. Meniscal tears are difficult to see with ultrasound (MRI is the preferred imaging test to find these tears).
At the Toronto Centre for Medical Imaging, we have been doing knee and other musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound examinations for more than 15 years. All ultrasound technologists at TCFMI have been trained by the quality advisor and Radiologist, Dr. Al Ismail who has performed and interpreted thousands of MSK Ultrasound examinations in his career. Ultrasound in experienced hands can detect important pathology with a high degree of accuracy. Ultrasound is fast, provides a dynamic assessment of the soft tissues around the knee and is cost effective.
At TCFMI, appointments can be made quickly, with short wait times (typically less than a week). When you call our office to book a knee ultrasound, a human being will answer your call and give you options for the first available appointment that accommodates your busy schedule. When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted by friendly staff at our front desk and you will be taken in for your appointment on time.
